Go SolarOkay. This is really just a little plug for solar energy here. While solar power is not going to change the world, return the ozone layer, or arrest global warming over night, it can be one of the long-term solutions for clean and green energy sources - if combined with other clean energy systems. Solar energy is clean. There is an unlimited source of it, so we don't have to worry about it running out; we don't even have to fight over it. It is distributed all over the planet every day. That might sound idealistic, but currently a lot of fighting seems to be done over oil - another major energy source. If oil were not a problem I'm sure they would find something else to fight about. But regardless, solar energy is everywhere (barring the poles during the winter time) and doesn’t need to be fought for. It just needs to be used. So that is a good reason to go solar. Practical Arguments on Why You Should Go SolarGo Solar HeatingRegardless of whether it will change the world or end war, there other practical reasons to go solar. These
reasons lie in the realm of convenience and economy. By economy, I mean saving money.
Currently, the most effective means of cashing in on solar energy is through the use of a solar heating system. In a solar heating system, one or more solar panels are used, in order to heat water. The hot water is then used to warm up a building. You might think that in order to make use of this system, you need to live in a warm climate, but this is not the case. Many solar heating systems are used in northern areas, such as in Scandinavia. A solar heating system is usually set up as a hybrid system (meaning that there is still another way to heat up water). This way, you don't end up having to take a cold shower on a rainy day. Energy bills can thus be 40% to 60% reduced for the year. So the installment costs do repay themselves in the long run.
In some cases, this is within just a few years. Solar energy is thus a sound financial investment.
And it is clean energy which doesn't harm the environment. So go solar.
Solar Heating in RVsSolar heating of RVs is also possible and requires much less than you would think. A relatively small solar heating
panel installed on the roof of your RV, connected to a small boiler, will go a long way in providing heat or a
warm shower. It would also be very practical to install in a holiday cabin or a summer house in a remote
area, and could possibly, especially in the summer, provide for all hot water needs. So this is another reason to
go solar.
Solar Battery ChargerThen of course there is the solar battery charger, another good reason to go solar. Solar battery chargers have many applications. They can recharge just about anything, ranging from a AAA or AA Batteries, to banks of
powerful marine batteries. It depends on the size solar charger you get. Some are highly portable, others could
be mounted on an RV or small boat. Some people have even powered their laptops by mounting small portable solar
chargers on their kayaks while taking a little trip into the wilds.
Some of the smaller solar battery chargers are still strong enough to either power or recharge small electrical devices. So if you enjoy a day of peaceful fishing or some similar activity, but your kid doesn't, a solar-powered battery charger could keep his video game console powered the entire day, allowing you to do your fishing! And if you don't have kids, the solar charger could power the fish finder. (Okay - so this is just one suggestion, but I am sure you can think of many more uses). It's clean unlimited energy, and getting it in use is a step forward toward a cleaner environment. |

Solar Powered HomeIt is possible to run an entire house on solar energy, by using solar panels to convert sunlight into electricity.
This requires a bit more of an extensive set-up, but it is possible.
There are already many buildings that make use of solar power in the form of electricity, but they are usually set up as hybrid systems. This means that they have some other form of energy supply as well. Usually they are also tied into the power grid, or they have a generator set up which covers times when solar energy is low (usually at night:). The best thing to do if you are interested in this sort of a system is to check with a company that specializes in solar panels. They will be able to provide you with all the necessary information for your area. A solar-powered home is another good reason to go solar. Solar GadgetsThen of course, there is an endless list of solar-powered gadgets on the market. Solar-powered water fountains
I hope I've given you a few reasons to go solar. Or, at least, given you some idea of the use of solar energy. And while you may or may not be racing to the nearest store right now to convert your home in to some solar power station, it doesn't hurt to start to think in the direction of cleaner energy. If we get into the habit of using cleaner energy sources, who knows what might develop at some future date.
