Want to charge 12 Volt DC batteries or a 12 Volt battery pack with a pedal power bicycle generator? With this charge controller, youll be able to harness human power energy or energy from wind and solar and put it to good use. HOW IT WORKS:Lead acid batteries require special love and care to last more than a year. The AGM (Absorbed Glass Mat) batteries typically do not want to see more than 14.8 Volts DC while charging. When you charge your batteries by pedal power, wind, solar, the voltage at your battery will go higher than 14.8 Volts DC. So this NC25A charge controller will detect that the voltage has exceeded the desired charge level (in this case 14.8V DC) and break the connection between your alternative energy power source and the lead acid battery power pack being charged. This will keep your battery from being over charged and damaged. Once the charge controller starts protecting your battery from too high of a charge voltage, it gives you the option to divert your pedal-power / wind / solar energy to something called a "diversion load". You don't have to hook up a diversion load if you don't want to, however if you are using this charge controller for a bike generator work out exercise routine, then keep in mind that when the charge controller goes into diversion mode with no diversion load hooked up, you will feel no resistance on your bike and it will become very easy to pedal. If you wanted to store your diverted energy, you could put a second NC25A charge controller on your diversion load output and that would allow you to charge a 2nd lead acid battery or powerpack.
